New IPAC chairman,Chief Barth Igwedibia of Accord Party in Anambra denies state govt sponsorship

www.odogwublog.com reports that the newly elected chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council  [IPAC] in Anambra State, Chief Barth Igwedibia has debunked rumour making rounds that his victory was sponsored by the state government.

Igwedibia who refuted the claims in a chat with newsmen in Awka, described the allegation championed by the United Progressive Party (UPP), as fallacious, saying the party did not receive any financial gratification from the government.

"The state government has no hand in the election that brought me to power. It did not influence the election in any way. What UPP is saying is completely lie" he said.

Igwedibia, who is the chairman of Accord Party, said the electorate decided to vote massively for him because of their refusal to be used as tools in the hands of the UPP chairman and his party to foment trouble in the state.

Recalling how the UPP chairman staged a work out during the election, after making several comments against IPAC in the state, the IPAC helmsman alleged that he was not acting on his own, but playing a script written by Chekwas Okorie, insisting that the body won't allow Chekwas to dictate the pace.

"We decided to stay hungry and fight the battle because we are all carrying the interest of the state which is bigger than the interest of all of us" he said.

He called on his opponents to sheath their swords and join hands with him for the progress of the council, hinting that his executive intends to set up two committees which one of them would be headed by the UPP chairman.

He also called on the INEC to quickly conduct the protracted Senatorial election to fill in the Anambra Central senatorial zone which has been vacant for a long time now.
