Confusion over Biafra day celebration ----IPOB says May 30th, MASSOB says May 22nd

www.odogwublog.com reports that there is confusion in Biafra Land as the Leader of Biafra Independence Movement, BIM and founder of Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike said that May 22 every year is the authentic Biafra day and not May 30, as some rumour mongers are peddling.

IPOB under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu had announced Biafra day for May 30th but Uwazuruike group is saying it is scheduled for May 22nd.

Specifically, Uwazuruike disclosed that BIM/MASSOB would celebrate 17 years of New Biafra independence on May 22 because according to him, the new Biafra struggle for independence was re-declared by himself at No.175 Faulks road, Aba, Abia state on May 22, 2000 after the one led by the former head of state of defunct Biafra, the late Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu who though they have great respect for, was defeated on January 12, 1970.

Speaking during a meeting at Ojukwu Memorial library, in Owerri Uwazuruike disclosed that the celebration of New Biafra which would commence in all the major towns in Biafra land on May 22, would be rounded off on May 30 with football tournaments in each senatorial zone of the Biafra land.

Uwazuruike who spoke through his Biafra Director for information, Mazi Chris Mocha said it is an act of cowardice for any person or group of persons to direct residents or citizens to stay in-doors on May 30, while celebrating their independence.

According to Uwazuruike who was apparently referring to the May 30 sit-at-home order declared by Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, "the real Biafran Day is May 22 when I re-declared the New Biafra struggle for independence and I am urging our people to go about their lawful businesses on May 30 because there will be no stay at home exercise on that day.

He stated that on May 30, various football teams from each senatorial zone of Biafra land would play matches as listed below to bring the 2017 Biafra day to an end, adding that on that day, Anambra team would lock horns with their Ebonyi counterpart in Onitsha, while Imo team hosts Lagos team in Owerri, just as Delta hosts Rivers rival in Asaba, among others.
