Assemblies of God Crisis continues: IGP has invited me,says Rev. Paul Emeka

www.odogwublog.com reports that the factional General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria, Rev. Professor Paul Emeka,said he will be in Abuja today at the invitation of the Inspector General of Police,Ibrahim Idris Kpotum,to discuss the lingering crisis in the leadership of the church between him and Rev.Dr Chidi Okoroafor.

The invitation is coming barely a week after Rev Paul Emeka and a faction of the congregation attempted to re enter the National headquarters of the church,located at Ozubulu street, Independence layout,Enugu,but were forcefully frustrated by armed police men,who fired tear gas on them.

They had embarked on the mission to re enter the National headquarter of the church, presently being occupied by Rev.Chidi Okoroafor and his group, based on the strength of an Enugu  Federal High Court ruling in suit with no..FHC/EN/CS/52/2017,granting an interim order of the court,restraining the police from stopping or preventing them from having access to the headquarter of the church at Independence layout, pending the determination of the substantive application.

Addressing news men in Enugu yesterday, Rev. Emeka said the invitation to see Inspector General of Police, is obviously in connection with the lingering crisis in the church,which  erroneously received wrong interpretation before most  security agencies and the media,deliberately induced by Rev Chidi Okoroafor and his cohorts, against the Supreme court judgement of February 24,2017.

According to Rev Paul Emeka, the Supreme Court judgement delivered on Friday,February 24, 2017 did not give Rev Chidi Okoroafor judgment but merely struck out his suit on the ground that it didn't come through due process of the court. Of which he has started all over again at the Federal High Court,Enugu judicial division.

He said Rev Chidi Okoroafor with the backing  of rich men behind him set up a machinery who  misinterpreted the judgement of the Supreme Court and influenced several media outfits to feed the public with false information as it pertains to the Supreme court judgement.

Rev Emeka said he is happy now that  the Supreme court has responded to his lawyers that it did never gave any executory  judgement to Rev Chidi Okoroafor and his faction, consequent upon which they forcefully ejected him from the National headquarter of the church, with aid of thugs, police men  and soldiers.

He stated, “The Supreme Court however made no order to warrant enforcement, a
development that made the office of the Attorney General of the
Federation in a legal opinion to declare that ‘parties are advised to
maintain status quo ante prior to the judgment and approach the
appropriate court for interpretation of the judgment’

Rev Paul Emeka described as laughable, the recent  notice of “purported”
excommunication and dis-fellowship for life from the church  and
129 other pastors loyal to him, by the Rev. Chidi Okoroafor-led
faction of the church.

 He said his purported expulsion as advertised on a National Daily[not 'The Authority] three  days ago was  the 6th since the crisis started and would be of no effect. He explained that there is no such  provision in  the Church’s constitution, but is being manufactured by those who desperate to hijack the leadership of the church for selfish gains.

He expressed fears that Rev Chidi Okoroafor and his faction are planning further attack on Pastors of the church,who are not loyal to him, alleging that the advertorial he published on the pages of a National newspaper, to have excommunicated about 129 Pastors of Assemblies of God Church,Nigeria is just a step in that direction.

He appealed to Enugu state governor,Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to intervene in the looming crisis because the National  headquarter of the church is located in Enugu. He urged him to emulate his Kaduna state counterpart,who have eventually found out the truth in the crisis and stepped in.
 
“I’m also appealing to the state government in Enugu to come out in
the presence of these available documents to do something because we
are getting confused why lawlessness should be allowed to continue in
Enugu state. People do not obey the laws and they make a show of it
publicly and they brag about it. We are requesting the good governor
of Enugu state to please justify that adjective good by coming openly
and boldly and taking the bull by the horn; we are not saying come and
side or do this or other things. We are saying do what the law has
said; nobody will blame you for doing what the law has said,”
