Anambra presents cash prizes to successful athletes

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Entrepreneurship and Sports Development, Barr. Dr. Uju Nwogu, has assured the youths of Anambra State of the state government’s continued commitment in representing their interests; adding that Governor Willie Obiano loves and has the interest of the youths at heart.
Dr. Nwogu gave the assurance yesterday at the conference hall of the ministry while presenting cash awards to the winners of the just concluded Second Edition of the Gov. Willie Obiano Unity Cup.
While addressing the youths from different council areas, the commissioner noted that the 3rd edition of the tournament would start soon, urging the teams to register in the next edition.
She expressed her joy over the outstanding performances of the participants, especially for the good sportsmanship they exhibited during and after the tournament.
Responding on behalf of the athletes, Ebuka Aghaobi from Onitsha North LGA, extolled the youth agenda of the Governor Willie Obiano’s administration, describing the governor as youthful and youth-friendly. He also pledged their undiluted support for the Gov. Obiano’s administration; and also expressed his happiness for the Hon. Commissioner; Dr. Uju Nworgu, who he said has turned sporting lives of Ndi Anambra around since her assumption of office.
Teams from Nnewi North, Onitsha North, Ihiala and Anaocha LGAs, received cash prizes for coming 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions respectively, in the male category; while in the female category, Onitsha North, Nnewi South, Ekwusigo and Awka South LGAs were also rewarded for clinching 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions respectively.
Others that received cash prizes include Ubeagu Chinedu from Nnewi North who was capped the best goalkeeper of the tournament. Mawo Echezona from Onitsha North, Ehirim Uche from Onitsha North and Team-Idemili South LGA, were rewarded for emerging the highest goal scorer, most valuable player and most behaved team respectively.
In the female football, Nwankwo Chetachi from Nnewi South, Sandra Samuel from Nnewi South, Oby Osaka from Onitsha North and Team-Awka South LGA, got cash prizes for emerging highest goal scorer, best goalkeeper, most valuable player and best behaved team respectively.
