Anambra Chief Judge , Justice Peter Umeadi gets award for hitting Obiano below the belt as MCLEAN commends Anambra Chief Judge

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Movement for Conduct of Local Government Election in Anambra State(MCLEAN) has commended the Chief Judge of Anambra state, Justice Peter Umeadi for his judgement ordering the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission(ANSIEC) to conduct council polls within ninety days.

The coordinator of MCLEAN, Comrade Obi Ositadimma told journalists yesterday that the Chief Judge by his ruling has demonstrated the fact that the judiciary is independent and ready to make democracy work in Anambra state.

This according to him is unlike the state's House of Assembly members who were playing hide and seek game over the all important matter of duly electing those that will be piloting the affairs of the twenty one local government areas in the state.

He said that by the judgement the Anambra State Chief Judge has written his name in gold in the sand of time and that posterity will always remember him for his courage and bravery.

He also gave kudos to the plaintiff in the matter against ANSIEC for their determination and commitment toward restoring the lost glory the state noting that Anambra state has been reduced to paper tiger due to non conduct of council polls.

Comrade Obi noted that with the judgment, the election umpire in the state has no hiding place again and that the logical thing expected of ANSIEC is to quickly put its house in order and do the needful by conducting local government elections.

The MCLEAN boss insisted that the non conduct of local government election in the state has robbed the state of opportunity to deepen democracy as those imposed on council areas in the state are cronies and sometimes sycophants of the governor who are not really interested in the welfare of the people at the grassroot.

Obi said his group would mobilize men and resources toward ensuring that the expected local government election is credible, free and fair and that any attempt by the state government and their agencies to float the court order would be resisted by MCLEAN.
