Agricultural Workers caution against diversion of Paris Club Refund

www.odogwublog.com reports that workers  under the aegis of Agriculture and Allied Employees’ Union of Nigeria [AAEUN] has cautioned  against the diversion  of the Paris Club Refund and  the bail-out fund by state governors for ulterior purposes on the pretext of executing infrastructural projects in their respective states.

The National President of the Association, Comrade Simon Anchaver gave the warning in his speech at the Delegates’ Conference of the Union  which began in Enugu  yesterday.
.He emphasized that workers’ welfare must remain paramount at all times. He called for  the immediate implementation of hazard allowance for workers under the agriculture sector.

His words, “It is pertinent to note that  some state governors prefer to use the bailout funds on capital projects at the detriment of workers’ salaries. This is unacceptable and it is considered inimical to the growth of the economy'.

”.Anchaver urged government at various levels to take issues in the agriculture sector very seriously, noting that “the economic woes facing the nation was not caused by anything else but the age-long neglect of this all important sector.

“Government at the various levels must endeavour to allocate a good percentage of its annual budget to the agriculture sector. This is the only way to revive the economy and take the youths off the streets.”

He  commended the Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for maintaining a cordial working relationship with workers in the State.
