Abia to plant 1 million palm seedlings, engage 20000 youths in agriculture - Ikpeazu

www.odogwublog.com reports that Governor Okezie Ikpaezu of Abia  State has said that his administration's target is to plant over 1 million palm seedlings in the state.

Ikpeazu who disclosed this yesterday during a thank- you visit at Umuahia North council headquarters also said 20,000 Abia youths would be engaged in agric sector.

He said his administration had laid the foundation for the development of the state in the last two years, adding that now that the Supreme Court has affirmed his victory, Abia would witness massive infrastructural transformation in the remaining part of his tenure.

" Now that the court cases are over, Abia which has been running on gear one will now cruise on gear five. In the days ahead we will witness massive road and infrastructural development", he declared.

He said government would empower 10 youths from each of the17 LGAs of Abia state with N100,000 each to start small scale businesses

Ikpeazu also said he had concluded arrangements to send 100 Abia youths to China for skill acquisition in shoe making.

He appealed to stakeholders in each council to select beneficiaries based on merit preferably those not related to politicians.

He said the visit was to thank the people for their  continued support and sustained prayers while the litigations lasted and assured them that he would not disappoint them.
The Governor announced that massive renovation of primary and secondary schools across the state would  begin this rainy season,disclosing that the sum of N5.6 bilion has been earmarked for that purpose.

The governor also visited Umuahia South , and Ikwuano LGAs to appreciate them for standing by him all through the legal tussle.
