2019: Okorocha is now on a self succession project ---Hon Onyeaocha

www.odogwublog.com reports that as political activities heats up ahead of 2019 general polls, Hon. Uche Onyeagocha has accused Governor Rochas Okorocha of hatching third term succession plans by allegedly hiding behind the back of his son-in-law, Chief Uche Nwosu, Chief of staff to Imo State Government.

Onyeagocha who represented Owerri Federal Constituency in House of Representative, Abuja under the political platform of APGA between 2003 and 2007 disclosed this on Wednesday in Owerri at Imo NUJ Secretariat during the 2017 World Press Freedom Day while presenting a paper on the theme: Critical Minds For Critical Times: Media’s Role For Advancing Peaceful, Just and inclusive Societies.

According to the legal luminary “We state without equivocation that Governor Okorocha is now one self succession project. He wants to run for a third term in office against the spirit of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by hiding behind the back of his son-in-law, Chief Uche Nwosu.
It is for this reason that he set up the Ugwumba Movement and appointed Nwosu who married his first daughter to run it.
This movement has since taken over the role of the Ministry of Information whose statutory responsibility, it is to promote the programmes and activities of the state government.
Today, we see billboards of the Ugwumba Movement showcasing achievements of government and usurping the roll of the emasculated Ministry of Information” he insisted.

Onyeagocha however pointed out that the people of Imo State comprising the three senatorial zones (i.e Orlu, Okigwe and Owerri) are united and irrevocable resolved that, Mr. Uche Nwosu will not succeed his father-in-law.
The reason he said “Is that Uche Nwosu’s candidature is merely Rochas Okorocha’s third term bid for the office of the governor of Imo state”.

He assured that Chief Nwosu is still incapable of conceiving the idea and taking the decision to run for such an exalted office and therefore enjoined Governor Okorocha to discountenance any advise in that direction noting that as the hand work of political undertakers, enemies and mischief makers who he said are allegedly on the vanguard to rubbish his political career.
Onyeagocha further observed that the health of President Muhammadu Buhari is falling and probably at the same rate as the health of the nation noting the situation to be compounded by the on-going legislative/Executive face off as well as the economy tittering on the precipice.

Reacting, the state Humble Commissioner for Information, Tourism and Public Utilities, Engr. Obinna Nshirim who represented Governor Rochas Okorocha on the well attended programme noted the role of journalist in the global community as critical with social responsibilities.
Okorocha advised journalists never to use their inalienable freedom to override other people’s right and to be strategic in its reportage taking into account the protection of national interest.
He assured that he is saddled with the responsibilities of marketing any candidate entrusted to him by the people and that zoning encourages bickering and mediocre.
The Governor further pointed out that power is not given but taking and that there is no sympathy in power sharing as encouraged by zoning.
