www.odogwublog.com reports that two hundred beneficiaries of Fidelity Bank Youth Academy training at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko were yesterday inducted into the family of beneficiaries.
Just as two students from University of Nigeria , Nsukka , UNN ,Faith and Chibuzor whom have being successful since they gained empowerment from the Fidelity Youth Academy scheme shared their testimonies.
The 5 day fidelity youth empowerment scheme and training was flagged of yesterday as part of the cooperate social responsibility initiative of fidelity Bank PLC in partnership with the Gazzelle Academy Vocational Centre.
The training with the theme “ Turning your passion into pay cheque" is aimed at educating the generation of young Nigerians and to empower them to become successful as trained entrepreneurs .
The scheme featured three institutions with federal polytechnic oko as the third phase of the training tour after UNN and University of Birnin Kebbi experienced the empowerment scheme respectively.
Some of the skill areas to be trained on includes ie; fashion accessories, cocktail, tailoring, makeup, shoe making ,Digital marketing training and lots more.
The managing director of Gazzelle Academy, Mrs. Muna Onuzor stressed that the training is pivotal and of great importance to the teaming youths and undergraduates of the country.
The medium is created to foster entrepreneurial spirit in our undergraduate and to create the mindset of self employment amongst the Nigerian youths and undergraduates. She further added in a field interview with the press that the empowerment exercise will be backed up with routine check of the empowered undergraduates to ensure they are committed to their courses.


In a welcome address, the deputy Rector Admin, Sir Ejike Nwabana who stood in for the polytechnic Rector ,Prof.Godwin Onu appreciated the extension exercise to the polytechnic, recounting that such programme is more essential to the polytechnic community and has included entrepreneurship as a compulsory course to every student of the polytechnic.
Reminding the students that skill acquisition is a sustainable way to grant self independence and financial freedom, while the quest for youths dependence on white collar job is defeated.
Speaking at the opening ceremony to mark the five days intensive training ,the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank PLC represented by a director cum financial analyst Mr Leonard Ezeugwu said that the youth empowerment exercise is in appreciation of the good partnership they have built with the society and a self enriching profit scheme. He stated that the best students will be empowered with facilities and other materials in their area of specialty after the five days training.
Present at the opening ceremony of the five days programme were the management board of the polytechnic with her Dean's, Hon. Remy Chukwunyere of the IMO state government youth employment scheme , and the fidelity bank board / financial analysts.
In an exclusive chat with the SUG president of the polytechnic Nwachukwu Okechukwu Cyril who spoke onbehalf of the students that will be taking the training said that its a rare opportunity, and will be quite beneficial to the students as most of them are already acquainted with the innovative scheme sequel to the practical courses they have being exposed with .
