Rt Hon Chukwudi Orizu ready for war with commercial drivers, forces them into govt parks

www.odogwublog.com reports that Nnewi North Local Government Council of Anambra State has directed all commercial vehicles operators who load along roadsides in the industrial town to move into government approved parks.
The commercial vehicles owners that ply Nnewi-Ozubulu-Okija-Ihiala route have been directed to move in to Ezeagu Parks one and two, those for Nnewi-Utuh-Ekwulumili-Unubi and Osumenyi would move to Okwu-Ulasi without further delay; Nnewi-Ichi-Oba-Onisha commuters are to move to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Park while Nnewi-Nnobi-Awkaetiti-Isuofia-Ekwulobia vehicles are mandated to load at Nnewi North Local Government Mass Transit Park.
The Nnewi North Local Government Area Transition Committee chairman, Rt Hon Chukwudi Orizu handed down the directive Thursday when he moved round major loading spots in the town with some council officials and security agents to sensitize commercial drivers of his intention.
He warned that defaulters would be made to face the full weight of law, noting that the council expected one hundred percent compliance for the good of all and sundry.
"We assumed office just a few weeks ago and feelers from security agents, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nnewi town union executive led by its newly elected President General, Sir Ugochukwu Udemezue and other stakeholders indicate that there is chaotic situation on Nnewi roads. Everybody does what he likes. So, what we are trying to do is to bring orderliness and drivers have to obey so as to have sanity on the roads within the industrial community," Orizu declared.
The council boss noted that the decongestion might not have worked in the past because of non availability of motor parks, adding that the parks the commercial drivers had been directed to use were approved by Anambra State government which according to him was the reason it was made compulsory for commercial vehicles to start using the motor parks.
Some of the commercial vehicle drivers who spoke with over the development expressed their preparedness to comply with the directive once a conducive environment is made available to them in the government approved parks.
