Obi Gibson Nwosu remains our traditional ruler---Awka Kingmakers, Awka Youths, Awka Town Union, others

www.odogwublog.com reports that the tension in Awka is over as the traditional ruler of Awka kingdom, Obi (Dr) Gibson Nwosu, OON, Ezeuzu Awka has received a vote of confidence from his subjects who insisted he has done no infractions to warrant the rumour and propaganda of his removal by disgruntled elements in the community.
In unanimous decision at his palace during a solidarity meeting in his palace, Awka community urged Obi Nwosu to disregard all negative rumours and propaganda circulating both online and mainstream media but to administer the community without fear or favour as the custodian of Awka cultural heritage and tradition.
Different sections of Awka represented at the meeting spoke in the positive, including Chairman, Awka council of Kingmakers, Ozo James Ezeh aka Omeisi Awka; the Prime Minister Engr Ben Okoye aka Otutu Awka; President General Awka Development Union, Engr Sir Tony Okechukwu and Awka youths President, Mr Onyebuchi Nwosu aka Enyinwa Awka as well as BOT Chairman of Awka Town Union, Chief B.C Morah aka Agunecheobodo.
They admitted that such rumour to divide the Awka Kingdom was real but from people they described as disgruntled elements who do not have the interest of the community at heart and appealed to the public to disregard such malicious rumours.
They said there was no time Ezeuzu Awka was given an ultimatum to vacate the throne , insisting that he has their mandate to remain as the traditional ruler of Awka, adding that the rumour has no support of the kingmakers , cabinet chiefs , the Prime Minister and Awka youths.
They appealed for caution to enable the Awka institution of Ezeuzu Awka which is about 20 years now to develop in class and envy of other societies as that of Onitsha. They wondered why removal of Ezeuzu should be in pages of newspapers, adding that there is a due process of removing the traditional ruler of Awka.

But a factional Awka Council of Kingmakers, had announced the dethronement
of the traditional ruler of Awka, Obi Gibson Nwosu, OON, over series of alleged violation of the community’s constitution.

At a press conference attended by the members of Awka Council of Kingmakers which was held at the Obu of the Chairman of Awka Council of Kingmakers in Umuogbu Awka, Ozo Obuora Essell, the council said the action took place on 14th April, 2017 in liaison with the Ndichie Awka.

In a press release containing 18 allegations levelled against him which was signed by the Secretary of the council, Ozo (Barr) Chief Emmanuel C.G. Okechukwu and its Chairman, Ozo Obuora Essell, it also announced the Head of Ozo Awka as the Regent in accordance with the 1986 constitution of Awka pending the election and installation of new Ezeuzu Awka.

The statement partly read: “Dr Gibson Nwosu was dethroned after he failed to come to defend himself from numerous acts of his violation of the Code of Conduct signed by him on January 1, 2000, after he was crowned.”

Reacting, the dethroned monarch, Dr Gibson Nwosu, at his palace dismissed the group, saying that they have no such powers to remove him. He said that the group were not the authentic kingmakers.
