Lack of unity worries citizens of Umuokokpa Village, Oba in Idemili South Local Government CouncilAnambra community

www.odogwublog.com reports that the concerned citizens of Umuokokpa Village, Oba in Idemili South Local Government Council of Anambra State have expressed a collective pain over the apparent lack of unity and direction in our community due largely to a long absence of leadership for our people.

This fact was contained in a press statement by the group signed by the chairman, Elder Okechukwu Nnaemeka and the secretary Mr Ikenna Onunkwo, a copy of which was made available to Authority yesterday.

The Oba concerned citizens noted that the 27 December, 2016 general election which was scheduled to produce a replacement for the immediate past Caretaker Committee ended abruptly following disruptions caused by a vested interest in the community and the village has since then remained without a constituted authority.

They alleged that some miscreants are not only exploiting this ugly situation for their selfish ends, especially, in promoting lawlessness in the community, but are also currently trying to sell an Ugbo land that has served as farm land for many generations of the people.

The concerned Oba citizens declared that the Ugbo land is a common heritage which is jointly owned by the six quaters that constitute Umuokokpa Village which are, Umuezuna, Umuagbaeto, Umuodiora, Ojukwa, Umuezeoji, and Uko and that the said land is an exclusively reserved area over the centuries for farming purposes alone which is not for sale.

They placed it on record that Umuokokpa Village does not have any leadership at the moment and that no individual or group has been authorized by the community to enter into negotiation with anybody over the purported sale of the said land.

The concerned citizens of Oba however warned that whoever that is negotiating with the alleged miscreants with regard to buying, or purporting to buying any part of the aforementioned land for whatever reason is doing so at his or her own risk.
