Anambra Youth for Change, PDP ask Obiano’s APGA to stop climbing on Ojukwu’s back for elections

www.odogwublog.com reports that two groups, the Anambra state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party and Anambra Youth for Change, yesterday asked the state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano led All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to using the name of the late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu for campaign for the November 18 poll in the state.
The PDP chairman in the state, Mr Kenneth Emeakayi, in a statement described the governor’s action as nauseating and deceitful.
He said Obiano was unwittingly saying that he had not made any achievements in the pass three years  that  could earn him electoral victory without climbing on Ojukwu’s back .

“During the campaigns for the 2010 gubernatorial election, the major streets of Anambra State was flooded with a particular billboard bearing the photograph of our great leader,  Ojukwu raising the hand of former governor Peter Obi, with an inscription ‘This  is my last wish’
“Having won the 2010 gubernatorial election, the APGA Government of Anambra State under Governor Peter Obi erected and hoisted new billboards in all the major streets of Anambra State, in honour and to immortalize the pride and symbol of the Igbo nation, Dim  Chukwuemeka   Odumegwu Ojukwu.
“Similarly, every single billboard and APGA campaign materials for the 2013 governorship                 election in Anambra State had the photograph of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, and  APGA leveraged heavily on Ojukwu's name to win the  said election.
“Disappointingly, no sooner than Chief Willie Obiano became the Governor of Anambra State on March 17, 2014, than all the billboards bearing the photograph of  Ojukwu, disappeared from the streets of Anambra State.
“Just about six months to another gubernatorial election in Anambra State, the Chief Willie Obiano led APGA Government of Anambra State has suddenly again remembered the name Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. Billboards are now been hoisted while government owned vehicles are branded with Ojukwu’s photograph.
“Amazingly, Governor Willie Obiano, in three years did not complete any single  project in Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s home town of  Nnewi  North  Local  Government Area, Emeakyi stated
As well, a Youth group in the state, Anambra Youth for Change, also asked Governor Obiano to stop dropping the name of the late Igbo leader for campaigns.
Describing  Ojukwu as an avatar, the group condemned using such name as an object of electioneering each election period in the state.
The group  which said it was rooting for Chief George Moghalu  as the next governor of the state because of his pedigree ,called on the people of the state to vote for the All Progressives Congress in the November 18 governorship election.
The state coordinator of the group,  Hon Curtis Okeke  stated this while addressing the press in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
He tasked the state governor to publish any project he sited in Ojukwu’s Nnewi home.
Okeke called on Moghalu to take up the challenge to become the governor of the state to salvage it from what he called "apparent ruins meted out on  the state by the APGA government in the past 11". years".
