Anambra: Tension in Nkpor as Government caretaker committee, rival group on War-path

www.odogwublog.com reports that the caretaker committee set up by Anambra state Government and led by Hon. Obiora Oddih,in Nkpor,  Idemili  North Local Government Area, and a rival group led by Chibuzor Okeke, are now on war-path as the later accuses the former of using community fund to
buy its extension of  time and demands for the immediate dissolution
of the committee and conduct of election for  the position of the
town union executive.

According to Okeke, “Nkpor has been under
caretaker that has seized the community for one selfish reason or the
other all these years for mere material things” “The committee said
they greased palm of the Commissioner for Local Government and
Town Union Matters, Grey Obi and also the Special Adviser to the
Governor on Town Union and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sir Ikechukwu Onyeabor,
to extend their tenure when the committee briefed the community on how
it spent community money.

That as far as they paid this their due that
The extension will last and ask every Nkpor man to go and relax that
they have even increased what their predecessor had been paying to
obtain extension” Okeke revealed.

He recalled that, “when Governor
Willie Obiano visited the people of Nkpor, the people raised objection
against the caretaker and shouted down the Governor and his entourage
down in total displeasure that we did not want that caretaker committee
that has lasted or lingered for about 10years but a legitimate town
union executive”.

“The fact is that the caretaker committee led by
Obiora Oddih is greasing their palm to get extension like Ralph
Nnabuife, his predecessor who is reappointed the chairman of caretaker
committee Idemili North Council when he did not render account of
stewardship.

The House of Assembly that gave approval for
his re-appointment or is it House of Corruption because audit report on
Nkpor indicted him.

”In a swift reaction Hon. Oddih described the rival
group as gangsters who thrive in crises adding, “most of them are
involve in gangsterism, it is not that they are hiding but they want to
stop us, caretaker committee. We called for meeting but Chibuzor Okeke
refused to come. I called him personally and he refused. I told them
the killing was much and that they should renounce cultism and right
now in Nkpor if you talk about criticism you will be lynched and that
we did”.“Before we came in Chibuzor and cohorts were welding much evil
power and wrote petition to stop the N20 million community
project which we want our own to go for skill acquisition to enable the
people to learn a trade, train on skills and empowerment. Right now we
have restored peace in seven out of 10wards in Nkpor, Chibuzor is from
Mgbachu village, one of the three remaining villages to restore peace
and because he knows we are determined to restore peace there he
started this destabilization to frustrate our peace and
unity mission”.

Contributing, the former caretaker committee chairman
in the community and currently the Idemili North caretaker committee
chairman Barr. Ralph Nnabuife called for restoration of peace and
tranquility, addingthat all should cooperate with the Oddih-led
caretaker committee for everlasting peace which it has started to put
in place Nnabuife who commended Governor Obiano for finding him worthy
to serve again after his first appointment as Idemili North
caretaker committee chairman vowed to achieve more pointing out that,
“it showed the  Governor is impressed with what I did”“This is a time
to move forward and I urge all to join hands with the Governor who has
done a lot to the people of this state to look beyond personal interest
and forge ahead with him.We should look beyond personal interest and
focus on development of our area and the state especially now that the
Governor has sackedcriminals and created enabling environment for
investment”, Nnabuife state.

In his reaction, a youth leader, Chief
Christopher Udoh commended the Nkpor caretaker Committee stating that
it has restored total peace in Nkpor

“The Nkpor caretaker committee has
restored peace in seven out of 10 wards in Nkpor and it is still
working on the remaining three and we need to give it our support to
move the community forward. The only three villages reaming are Amator
–Nkpor Agu,Mgbachu Nkpor Uno and Mgbachu Nkpor-Agu which are what they
are working on now andmay be after that e
