UPP Leader bombs Governor Okorocha over Eze Ilomuanya, says Igbo Traditional institution descrated

www.odogwublog.com reports that the leader of the United Progressives Party[UPP], Chief Chekwas Okorie,yesterday called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress[APC],to compel  the Imo state governor,Chief Rochas Okorocha, in recognizing and restoring  Eze C.I. Ilomuanya,as  the traditional ruler of Obinugwu community and chairman of Imo state council of traditional rulers,in accordance with an Owerri Court of Appeal judgement,delivered on July 5,2013 and the subsequent Appeal court ruling on motion for stay of execution of Tuesday,May 13,2014.

Chief Okorie was furious that Governor Okorocha has continued to cause afflictions to Eze Ilomuanya, describing such attitude as a desecration of the Igbo traditional institution, based on the fact that Igbo culture revers the position of traditional rulers. Okorie said Governor Okorocha had also ignored the recent advise and intervention of the federal government as relates to his issues with Eze Ilomuanya and is presently threatening him with police arrest.

The UPP leader who is also known as 'Oje Ozi Ndigbo'[messenger of the Igbo nation stated,'To underscore his disdain for the rule of law and disrespect to the APC federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari,Governor Okororcha went ultra vires his power to order the Nigeria police to arrest Eze Ilomuanya,wherever he may be found'.

According to Chief Okorie,'The Attorney general of the Federation and Minister of Justice, after a thorough evaluation and consideration of Eze Ilomuanya's petition,had through the Solicitor General of the federation/Permanent Secretary,Taiwo Abiodun Esq, had written Governor Okorocha,urging him to be guided by the Judgement of the Appeal court,Owerri division in reversing the dissolution of the Imo state Council of Traditional rulers and to re instate Eze Cletus Ilomuanya as the council's chairman. But Governor Okorocha never heeded to the advice.

 The UPP  National Chairman,Chief Okorocha vowed that  he  would not continue to keep silence while Governor Okorocha continues to  desecrate  the traditional institution in Igbo land.

His words,'We have watched with concern and disappointment the wilful and unconscionable desecration of the revered and sacred Traditional institution in Igbo land. As a responsible and credible opposition party,the United Progressives Party[UPP], cannot stand by and watch Owelle Rochas Okorocha, the Governor of Imo state,desecrate the traditional institution with unbridled recklessness'.

Chief Okorie also called on the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo and the South East Council of  traditional rulers to intervene in the situation.

He stated,'The South East Council of Traditional rulers and the leadership of Ohaneze must rise to defend the traditional institution in Igbo land. Ndigbo are ridiculed by Governor Okorocha's  rascality'.
