UN must avoid another civil war in Nigeria – IPOB cautions

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra ( IPOB) has urged the United Nations ( UN) , and other world powers to save Nigeria from going into another civil unrest by intervening against the introduction of Sharia Islamic law in the ongoing trial of its detained leader, Nnamdi Kalu.

IPOB in a statement issued yesterday by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, frowned at the development, saying it is capable of sparking avoidable religious cris in the country.

"The world must be wary of the introduction of Sharia law in the ongoing trial of our leader  Nnamdi Kanu .

"We have called for referendum and peaceful separation, it only bring us more harm and pain than good because the United Nations UN and other world powers are keeping quiet and have failed to stop the arrest and killing of unarmed peaceful Biafran agitators by the murderous Nigerian Security agencies.
"We are more worried.  For how long will the United Nations and other world bodies  continue to maintain defeaning ears or (is it )when we take up arms?
"To us we don't see the need to take up arms because it is not a must that Biafra restoration will go into war for the second time before we get our freedom but if the UN and other world bodies allow us to go into war for the second time before we achieve our independent alright, but it must be a war of revenge and bitterness."
IPOB urged the UN to use its powers to prevail on Nigeria government to allow Biafra's agitation for self rule , arguing that the continued existence of the country as a united entity has become a contentious issue.
" Therefore, all efforts must be utilized by UN and other people of good conscience around the globe to ensure that this fake creation called Nigeria by the British merchant does not go to another war like 1967 to 1970, for the interest of humanity across the universe."
IPOB vowed to resist the use of Sharia law to try Kanu who is not a Muslim by faith.
"Trying or judging our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and others detained illegally alongside him with Sharia law is unacceptable by Biafrans, Christians and IPOB members worldwide.
"The proposed secret trial which has been removed before now will not be allowed to hold against our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and others detained."
