Sergeant Ibe Uchenna ‘s end of the road for killing Chinedu Peters at road block in Abia

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Abia State Police Command says it had taken into custody a killer cop, Sergeant Ibe Uchenna, who allegedly killed one Chinedu Peters at a road check at Asa Road Aba.

The Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO), Mr. Geoffrey Ogbonna who confirmed this in an interview with today in Umuahia , described the incident as very unfortunate.

He said that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Leye Oyebade had also ordered full investigation into the incident while  the suspect would be subjected to orderly room trial before being arraigned.

The PPRO said the state command of the Criminal Investigation Department ( CID) was handling the matter, adding that the CP also advised the family of the suspect to get in touch with the family of the deceased for further discussions.

He however, appealed to members of the public not to engage armed men whether security operatives or criminals in any altercation as their mood could not be determined in some cases.

" People should not dare anyone carrying arms whether police or criminals because not everyone carrying arm may be in good mood all the time".

The victim, according to a post on Whats App by one Pedro Unekwe, was on March 11, returning with his girl friend from an eatery joint where they had gone to eat when they were intercepted by police at a check point.

The post read in part:" The police on duty in front of Christ the King Cathedra(C.K.C) Asa road, Aba stopped the vehicle he was inside and ordered all of them to come out, they obeyed and all came out.

" They were asked to lay down on the ground which they also did. Few minutes later the police men told the only Hausa man in their midst to stand up and leave with reasons best known to them.

"Mr Chinedu out of anger stood up to ask questions why they released the Hausa man and not all of them for the fact they didn't get anything incriminating on them. One police man among them by name Ibe Uchenna ordered him to lie down or he would  shoot him.

" He refused, saying he will only obey when the Hausa man is brought back. That was how he was shot by someone that was supposed to protect him.

"He was lying down helpless crying for them to take him to hospital, instead they took him in their van and dumped him in a location they thought  people would not find out, took their car for a wash to cover their crime without knowing that the girlfriend was with him."

According to the report, the victim's girlfriend later raised alarm that exposed the alleged police cover up.

"The girlfriend returned home and explained how this young and vibrant man was shot. His brother went to CPS to lodge a complaint  but was told by the police that they don't know about such incident.

"The girlfriend insisted on the case and the police commander called the troops that were deployed at the area and the girl was able to recognize their faces and the guy that shot him.

" The police later changed the story that Chinedu was taken to a hospital and that he is responding to treatment but refused to show the family which hospital.

" His family and friend set for a search party, and his dead body was found this morning 18th March 2017. They want back to the police only for the police to tell them that the police man  that shot him IBE UCHENNA is now in detention in Umuahia."
