Notorious 65-year-old land seller arraigned for fraud

www.odogwublog.com reports that Chief Paul Okechukwu (aka Ofiafuluagu) a sixty five year old man allegedly notorious for selling one portion of land many times to different people at Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area, Anambra State, was Wednesday arraigned at Nteje Chief Magistrate Court presided over by Mr. C. C. Ibemesi.
Chief Okechukwu, who was arraigned on a two count charges bothering on conspiracy and fraud, was accused of defrauding an Onitsha based lawyer, Barrister Ikechukwu Izuegbunam, of the sum of N750,000 on the pretext of selling him a plot of land at Amuche village, Nkwelle Ezunaka.
He was accused of making false presentation of plot allocation, No 509 and plot No 511 on plot No 411 and plot No 412 situated at Imeagu Onyiliajaodu Layout Amuche Village, Nkwelle Ezunaka; property of one Chikamso Nonso Okegbo of the same Umueri family, Amuche of  Ndino village, Nkwelle Ezunaka and fraudulently collected the sum of seven hundred and fifty thousand naira (N750,000) from his victim and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 1 (1) (a) (3) of Advance Fee Fraud and other fraud related offences Act Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2006.
He was also accused of unlawfully selling plot No 411 and plot No 412 property of one Chikamso Nonso Okegbo situated at Imeagu Onyiliajadu Layout Amuche Village, Nkwelle Ezunaka and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 3 (b) Prohibited Fraudulent Practices on Land and Property Laws of Anambra State of Nigeria, 2012.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. C. C. Ibemesi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N150,000 with reasonable sureties and directed that the case file be sent to the office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for onward trial at a higher court.
