Fake lawyer Lulu Godwin arraigned, remanded in Owerri

Barely 24 hours after a fake lawyer was arraigned at the Owerri Magistrate Court, another 32 years old man, Lulu Godwin has been remanded in prison custody over a four count charge of impersonation as a lawyer.
He was accused of presenting himself as a lawyer employed in the public service in Rivers State and for pasting stickers of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) on his cars, and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 108(2) of the criminal code cap 30, vol II laws of Eastern Nigeria 1963 as applicable in Imo State.
Further Lulu was alleged to have assaulted the reputation of a female lawyer, Ms Vivian Ottih on the 13th of February, 2017 by exposing her to hatred and ridicule and calling her a prostitute who has been abandoned by her husband.
Lulu was alleged to have on the 20th of February 2017, in the company of seven other armed men at about 10pm at Isikwuato road, Prefab Aladinmma estate in Owerri, unlawfully damaged Ms Ottih's door valued at N50,000.
Police Prosecutor, Insp Eleng Evogor had applied that the accused person be remanded in prison custody, saying he had jumped bail granted him in a murder case in Rivers State.
Owerri NBA Chairman, Barr Lawrence Nwaekiti who appeared alongside other lawyers on a watching brief for the bar had argued that on why bail should not be granted.
Defense counsel, Barr Agbo had argued that the offence was a bailable one, and prayed the court to grant his client bail.
Trial Magistrate, Mrs O.I. Njemanze in her ruling remanded Lulu in prison custody and thereafter adjourned the case to May 11, 2017.
