Anglican Clergy, Canon Onyeakagbusi beaten, dragged by NCSDC over land, as Bishop Ibezim weeps

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Vicar Church of Holy Spirit, Awka, Awka diocese, Reverend Canon Jason O.Z Onyeakagbusi narrowly escaped lynching by Nine (9) men in members of Nigeria and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) from Awka Headquarters, Anambra state.
The NSCDC men swooped on him at the valley hosting the premises of Church of Holy Spirit new building at the back of Paul University premises as they were dragging a site engineer, supervising work at ongoing Church project.
Canon Onyeakagbusi who was nearby came to ask them to leave the site engineer and exercise restrain for a resolution to their invasion of the Church land unknown to him that he was their target. They descended on him while in his full Church regalia beating him, dragged him to their vehicle about a kilometer from the scene.
But for the quick intervention of the postulants at Paul University who was alerted by the Vice Chancellor, Professor (Venerable) Uche Isiugo-Abanihe shocked at the despicable acts of the uniformed men. The postulants came in their numbers and would have roasted the NCSDC men alive even with their guns but for the quick motion to stop by the VC and Canon Onyeakagbusi.
www.odogwublog.com further reports that Canon Onyeakagbusi lost his valuables and sustained injuries but was thankful to God that the Postulants and ordinary students of Paul University and vocational Institute did not descend on the so claimed security operatives as according to them  two wrongs can never make a right.
Meanwhile, the Church of God has embarked on prayers against all those coveting Church property like those who sold church land to Union Bank, and a filing Station near Paul University and those trespassing Amaenyi Girls secondary school among others to start receiving the wrath of God. The recent invasion was talk of the prayers.
Reacting to the incident , the Anglican Bishop of Awka , Right Reverend Dr Alexander Chibuzor Ibezim who literally wept over the assault on a clergy man in Awka diocese by encroachers, vowed to get the root of the assault until justice is served on the NCSDC members and those who invited them.
Bishop Ibezim who was represented by Hon. Justice Chinyere .E.K Anigbogu wondered what kind of security official in Nigeria would be dragging and beating a man of God who was only intervening in a situation he found untoward.
He said the diocese would get to the root of the matter as the people who invited the NSCDC have no business in the Church land which has valid papers and C of O in the Church’s possession since 1970. He decried that some members were used by Satan to collude with outsiders to deposes the Church its property but warned them that though the Church would not fight but that they are already heaping curses on their families hence so many families are in disarray.
He alleged that the people invading on the Church land lied that they were taking it on overriding public interest to build a Nigerian Inland Waterways, wondering what kind of ignorant such people would be exhibiting in a digital era to build a waterway where there is no stream not to talk of river like River Niger but swampy area in Ngene for planting seasonal vegetables.
‘’Our Lord Jesus has been assaulted and the Bishop has asked that we be in prayers because the Church does not fight carnally. Ask God to fight His battle His own way and fight those who are fighting the Church’’, Hon Justice Anigbogu stated.
In his emotion laden voice, Canon Onyeakagbusi who could not say why such happened to him and the Church in the lent, asked for prayers as the Satan is at work. He said he would have been killed, hospitalized or kidnapped  for asking people to have restraint, regretting that he was on his full regalia as a priest of God but yet ‘God’s prophet was attacked’’.

The NSCDC could not be contacted but a personnel who spoke off record said those men were on illegal duty as their job is to protect the civilians not to harass them or assault them , but insisted they would react when official report is filed.
