www.odogwublog.com reports that tragedy struck yesterday in Owerri as a heavy duty truck lost control and rammed into a bottled water hawker, Chibueze Uguru killing him on the spot.
According to a source who witnessed the incident, Ikenna, the truck with registration number, Lagos XY - 844 - EKS lost control at the the Holy Ghost secondary school - Assumpta road and hit a non moving pay loader before ramming into the young man who was hawking by the road side.
The truck was conveying sharp sand packed in cement bags from Onitsha road before been accosted by officials of the Imo Environmental Transformation Commission who were conducting searches on heavy truck documentations.
Ikenna disclosed that in an attempt to dodge the ENTRACO officials, the truck driver accelerated speed only to lose control and ram into a stationed pay loader and also the late water vendor.
Briefing newsmen at the scene of the incident, chairman of Imo state Hawkers Association, Lambert Ofordire said that the deceased was a 30 year old man who hailed from Izinye in Ezi Local Government Area of Ebonyi state.
Ofordire blamed the ENTRACO officials who he accused of always treating them with hostilities,  chasing them and seizing their goods at different times, adding that they took to trading to stay off crime.
He appealed to the state Government to help them by instructing the ENTRACO officials to allow them do their businesses, as their hawking was not constituting public nuisance nor a security threat to the state.
Ofordire, who confirmed the death of Uguru, disclosed that his remains have been deposited at the mortuary, while plans are underway to inform his family in Ebonyi state.
