South East Governors agree on Security and Economy integration of the zone.

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Governors of the South East zone yesterday met in Enugu and agreed to pursue a common cause on eradicating challenges of insecurity in the zone,They also resolved to pursue an economic agenda that will better the lives of the people of the zone and Nigeria, as whole.

The Ebonyi state governor,who emerged as the new chairman of the South East Governors' forum while briefing news men stressed the resolution to join forces in fighting the insecurity challenges like kidnapping stems on the fact that what is happening in any of the states,relatively affects the nearby states.

To fortify the cause for economic integration of the zone, Governor Umahi disclosed that the various economic commissioners of the five states have being mandated by their respective governors to meet at a later date for the purpose of articulating a joint economic agenda of development that will better the lots of the people.

"We decided to have proper economic integration of the South East zone. And in this regard we have instructed the economic  commissioners  ‎of the various states to come out with a blue print in that regard',

The Governors also announced their support for the new elected leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo led by Dr John Nnia Nwodo,urging Ndigbo to give him the necessary support to succeed in their mission and objectives of enhancing the socio cultural activities of the zone.


Prior to Governor Umahi's press briefing in his capacity as the new South East Governors' forum chairman, the Abia state governor,Dr Okezie Ikpeazu who introduced him stated,'.

.'Recall that the South East Governors' Forum have not had a leadership since 2015 when the former governor of Abia State, Chief Theodore, was the chairman after the former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi's tenure.


Earlier on,Umahi while appreciating his new position  said, "I want to first of all accept the leadership position that my colleagues have imposed on me.  Though I am not most qualified but they decided that I should the South East Governors' Forum at a time like this.  So I want to thank them with all sense of humility and I accept with all my heart,"
