Sequel to the present economic situation in the country, Anambra state has continually setting out measures  to strengthen its economic activities and further improve on the state's internally generated revenue.
This was stated today in a Holy Mass during a pastoral visit of Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev Valerian Okeke  to commemorate the visit of St Johnpaul 11 to the parish, 35 years ago, and 10 years of dedication of  S.S John and Paul Parish (Iba Pope), Awada, Obosi, Idemili North local government area ,Anambra state.
Speaking during the Mass, the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano said his administration had consolidated every plan with the United States of America to export 1 million tubers of yam, as well as other vegetables to the United Kingdom.
Governor Obiano noted that the state had trained some personnel that would embark on the exportation of goods, in addition to direct and indirect employments it would create.
The governor opined that his administration in the past three years had invested heavily on agriculture to give the state economic respite, saying Anambra state would soon produce 550,000, eggs per day, to meet the needs of the people.
Chief Obiano maintained that the state had embarked on massive construction of roads in the state, adding that some roads in Awada such as the 500 meters of Osumenyi road, 100 meters of Nsugbe street, 425 meters of Urum street and the 225m road leading to St James Anglican Church had been designed for construction.
Dr Obiano promised to always intervene in the plight of the people and further improve  their standard of living so as to deflate the pains of present economic crunch.
In his homily, the Archbishop of Onitsha and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Rev Dr Valerian Okeke reminded Christians that their body was the temple and should refrain from immoralities  as well as occasion of sin.
Archbishop Okeke charged Christians to embrace eternal salvation, which was God's plans for them,  but regretted that some had deviated from God's purpose of our creation.
The Archbishop urged them to seek divine grace to enable them keep the commandments of God so as to sojourn with him in heaven rather than eternal damnation.
He commended Governor Obiano for his administrative blueprints which had attracted global recognition.
In their separate reactions, the members representing Onitsha South one and South two in the state House of Assembly, Hon Patrick Aniuno and Hon Beverley Nkemdiche Ikpeazu expressed gratitude, saying the event would give another breathe of blessings and development as the governor has promised to embark on roads connecting Awada and environs.
