Modern Abbatoir for Anambra in Amansea set for usage

www.odogwublog.com reports that the modern Abattoir in Amansea, Awka North local government area, Anambra state being executed by the State Government in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, is set for usage.
Governor Willie Obiano who inspected the level of completion of the project which would be managed by the State Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export when completed, applauded the level of work.

The Abattoir has two main structures expected to house Dirty Section where Cows are to be bled, the Cattle Wash Section and the wholesale section have been completed.

The Oven Section for Skin processing has also been completed while the major borehole project is still ongoing.
Governor Obiano revealed that the objective for the Abattoir was to sanitize the entire meat slaughtering and processing system in the state to meet global standards. He said his government aims to replicate the project in six locations across the state.

The project he said has the capacity to slaughter forty cows per day which he said is the meat consumption capacity of the entire population in Awka Capital Territory.

The governor further explained that through the project and the Lynden Poultry Project,  his government intends to checkmate diseases associated with improper and unhygienic meat processing by ensuring that meat sold to Ndi Anambra are prepared in the best hygienic format.

Governor Obiano assured that his government is committed to completing the project within a record time.

The Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr Mark Okoye observed that aside its health prospects, the project will also create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs for Ndi Anambra and maintained that through its strategic engagements with development partners, the present administration will continue to initiate programmes that will have positive bearing on the lives of the people.
