APC commences registration, re-validation exercise in Anambra, targets 1m voters

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra has commenced registration and revalidation exercise of members with an assurance that the party will ensure a level playing ground for all.
www.odogwublog.com reports that the leadership of the party in the state targets to register between 750 and one million card carrying members during the exercise.

Mr Chris Akomas, the state Chairman of the APC National Registration and Revalidation Committee, gave the assurance in an interview with newsmen at Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area on Wednesday.
Akomas, who spoke shortly after registering a governorship aspirant, Dr Chike Obidigbo, said the party had worked out a system to manage both the old and new members of the party.
“We have come to make it easy and possible for all calibers of people both old and new in the party to work together as a family especially in the South East zone.
“Change is taking root in the country, we want to ensure that the members we have exists and are focused and committed.
“It is an opportunity to up the tempo and open the gateway for the South East geo-political zone to take her rightful place in the scheme of things in the country,” he said.
Akomas, who noted that thumb prints and photographs of members were been captured, said the credibility of the exercise will enhance the scope and strength of the party in the region.
In a remark, Obidigbo, an aspirant of the party in the November governorship election of the state, while lauding the exercise, described the party as “the right place to be.”
He said the South East region had been politically shortchanged in the scheme of things in the country and urged the people of the zone to turn out en mass to register for the exercise. 
“I think it is time to reconsider our stand as a people and move to recover all the benefits of the zone.
“Much work is needed to develop the economy to sustain the needs of the people and I believe that APC has all it takes to grow the economy,” Obidigbo said.
According to him, Nigeria is a virgin economy that requires people with special kind of skill to know the right thing to do and provide sustainable environment for businesses to thrive.
“If allowed to govern the state, I will make the difference and introduce visible measures that will touch the lives of people,” he added.
The governorship aspirant reiterated that if elected, his administration will focus on agriculture and job creation for youths.
 

it would be recalled that there was confusion in Aguata local government area Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Anambra state yesterday after Senator Andy Uba declared for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Uba who is a senator representing Anambra South senatorial zone was elected under PDP and was a short time Governor under PDP but suddenly declared for APC in his Uga ward Saturday.
He was registered by party ward officials shortly after Governor Okorocha of Imo state disclosed that he is consulting with three Governors in the South-East zone, and former Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamani emerging as the new leader of APC in the South East zone.

Several calls and text message to Senator Uba’s phone  for the veracity of his decamp to APC yielded no result as at press time but his aide who said he was not asked to speak confirmed his boss has joined APC.
He said: ‘’ Yes, it happened Saturday morning at his Uga ward. Party officials from the ward registered him and he assured them to work with them and enthrone APC government as APGA and PDP must collapse for APC in Anambra state.There is confusion here for PDP even APGA.
He appealed not to be quoted as he was not asked to speak to newsmen.
