5,000 DEFECT TO PDP IN ANAMBRA AS FEAR GRIP APC OTHERS

www.odogwublog.com reports that not less than five thousand persons drew from APC, Labour Party, PPA and APGA yesterday defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Onitsha North Local Government area over the perceived fear of the state of health of Mr President

The ceremony which took place at the late Justice Balonwu’s compound  in woliwo  Onitsha  witnessed a large turnout  of PDP stalwarts in the seven council area of the Anambra North senatorial zone .

Addressing the crowd comprising of major stakeholers, the leader of PDP in Onitsha North, L G A Chief Oraegbunam Anene welcomed the decampee and assured them that the PDP was being restructured from the national level in other  to take over power at the national level and Anambra State in 2017 and 2019 respectively.  He described as unfortunate the incident that brought in APC to power but reminding them that Anambra State no doubt remain a  PDP State.

He called on the State, Local and Ward Executives of the party to commence aggressive mobilization of electorate at their Wards and LGA because PDP must take over in the next Governorship and other up coming elections.

He told them that all the gray areas and issues must be addressed as soon as possible promising all aggrieved persons or groups of their resolve to quickly address their grievances so as to return the party on track .

A legal practitioner and Chairman of the PDP in Anambra East LGA, Barr Thompson Chikezie recalled that the present administration employed every dangerous means including the use of Boko Haram insurgents to take over power from PDP, but has failed to bring the change promised Nigerians.

He said that PDP is a major political party in Nigeria that cannot be wiped away through intimidation, oppression and harassment.

He regretted that some notable people in PDP have defected to other political party but noted that in no distant time they would regret their action.

On the 2017 governorship election the legal practitioner enjoined members to close ranks and guard against selfishness and formation of mushroom groups whose interest are to extort money from the politicians during election pointing out that there is no room for political jobbers in the present day politics in Nigeria.

“I want to tell you in a decent manner that some mushroom pressure groups are all over Anambra North.  The other day I learnt that a group that call themselves Anambra North Peoples Assembly ANPA, convened a meeting at Menakaya’s house  in Umunya where they purportedly claimed to have endorsed a candidate for governorship election from Anambra North.”

“I want to state categorically  clear that nobody has been endorsed as a candidate of PDP or any other political party in Anambra North. The issue at stake now is how to organize the North to produce the next governor to complete our tenure.  It is not an issue of political party or candidate yet . When we put our house in order then we will know who goes fore us in each of the political party..  I therefore  call on the stakeholders in Anambra North to call these people to order before they sell our right”.

In his own contribution, Hon. Godwin Ejamike thanked the decampees and described them as members of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP even as he commended them for their wise decision to join the winning team.

He said that the next governorship election in the State will be a surprise parkate to many, warning that they should route for somebody they know, who  in turn knows them and who is at home with the problem of the people of Anambra State.

Hon. Ejamike said that the Anambra electorate should rise and say no to imposition of candidates from Abuja, America, London, etc.

Meanwhile, the people of Anambra North senatorial zone have been called upon to avoid money politics and work together to return to the Government House Awka in 2017.

The Chairman, Anambra North Unity Forum, Chief Slyvester Ohaemesi made the call in continuation of its sensitization campaign  tour at the Onitsha North LGA.

Chief Ohaemesi said that the policy trust of the Forum was to return a candidate of Anambra North senatorial extraction to Government House Awka as the governor of the State irrespective of his or her  political affiliation.

The sensitization programme attracted political stalwarts from various political parties from the towns and communities in the zone. He advised them to carry their campaign to their political parties, wards and local governments.

“We have been pleading with the Anambra South and Central to allow us complete our tenure since they have also been in power for 11 and 7 years each.”
