 www.odogwublog.com reports that Enugu state Governor, Rt Hon Ugwuanyi this evening recognized the feats recorded by the Chairman and management of The Authority Newspapers in the Nigerian media circle in the past one year, congratulating the management led by Madu Onuorah for successfully turning the newspaper into one of the nation's leading publications.
Ugwuanyi spoke when the management of The Authority Newspapers led by     the Managing Director/Editor in Chief, Mr Madu Onuorah, paid him a courtesy call at the Executive chambers of the Government House Enugu.
Ugwuanyi said: ‘’  It is my pleasure, to welcome the Management Team of the Authority Newspapers, to the Government House, Enugu.
‘’Let me first congratulate you for successfully turning the newspaper, into one of the nation’s leading publications within the short period of its existence.
‘’You have come here today to present me with a letter of Award for Excellency and Good Governance (Development and Infrastructure) and I do feel highly humbled and honoured to have been considered for such a lofty laurel by your esteemed organization.
‘’We dedicate whatever successes or achievements we have made to the God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob and the awesome God of David; for Enugu State is in the hands of God.
‘’It is therefore with humility and gratitude that I accept your letter of notification for the aforementioned award and I thank you for finding time within your very busy schedules, to be with us today.

Speaking earlier, the Managing Director/Editor-In-Chief , Mr Madu Onuorah recognized Ugwuanyi’s efforts in  defending his people adding ,’’you are one Governor who is not afraid of defending the interest of your people.
Onuorah said Ugwuanyi has done federal roads that were death traps to ease the troubles of his people and indeed millions of other road users by fixing the roads.

He added that Ugwuanyi appears to be acting beyond politics in all things and issues.



His words: ‘’We are delighted to be here to the one whom we are very proud to call our friend, our big brother and our hero.

And His Excellency didn't become our friend because we have to give him an award, which he deserves anyway.

‘’In our early days as a newspaper, Your Excellency, you identified with us and has been giving us your supports. We thank you so much.

‘’We've also identified with your challenges and hopes of a better Enugu State and a resurgent Nigeria.

‘’Since inception, we've come out openly with reports and essays to show that we are ready to go the whole hog with him and his government and we have no apologies to offer for that.

‘’You are one Governor who is not afraid of defending the interest of your people. When federal roads in Enugu became death traps, you moves it to ease the troubles of your people and indeed millions of other road users by fixing the roads. No politics. You seem to be beyond politics in all things and issues.

‘’A trip round Enugu State shows your indelible imprints. It is all too glaring to be ignored.

You're not a man who goes for half measures. You are a man whom Nigeria needs at a time like this as you are the new face of the Nigerian spirit that won't give up even in the face of challenges but opt for a noiseless but massive development of the State's infrastructure.

‘’The rate of development especially infrastructure in spite of the fact that Enugu State in not an oil producing State and therefore gets little from the Federation Account. And you don't have cluster of businesses and major urban centers like some surrounding States to tax to lift up the States IGR.

‘’It is still a surprise that with the developments going on here, Enugu is one of the few States in Nigeria to pay worker's salary as and when due, I understand, by the 25 of every month.

‘’We still don't know how you do it especially in country whose governance landscapes are filled with Governors who amass debt for their States and give reasons for failure. You've no time for excuses.

‘’This is the reason that we, The Authority newspapers, are honoring you with the Outstanding Governor of the Year 2016 on Development and Infrastructure.

‘’You are not used to giving excuses. Right from your first day in office, you rolled your sleeves to work and you are still working.

‘’I can go on and on. But to our most outstanding leading light of infrastructure development, the one with the heart of God yet has an uncompromising stance of all issues of good governance; who doesn't even speak before his opponents catch the flu, it is a great honour and privilege to be here to formally inform you and present to you a letter of the award on you as The Authority Newspapers Outstanding Governor of the Year 2016 on Development and Infrastructure.

‘’Congratulations, Your Excellency. Nobody does it better than you for you give hope to not only the people of Enugu State but also to tens of millions of Nigerian who are yearning for real hope and heroes.

For us, we are where you are. Your fight is our fight. Your worry is our worry. We are ready to work more with you in realizing your enormous dream for Enugu State.

Once again, congratulations sir. The formal award ceremony holds Thursday 26 January ‘’2017 at Yar'Adua Centre, Abuja. We will be honoured to have Your Excellency at the event.
