Ohaozara Local Government Area Chairman, vice, all appointees sacked for poor sanitation -----workers salaries suspended

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ohaozara local government council of Ebonyi state, Mr. Sunday Ogbonnaya and all political appointees of
the council have been suspended, indefinitely.

Other affected officials of the council include   the Vice Chairman, Mrs. Kelechi Ajani, the Secretary and all the liaison officers.

The Governor of Ebonyi state, Chief Dave Umahi in a press release
signed by Principal Secretary to the Governor, Chief Clement Nweke
said the Heads of Personnel Management and Treasurer of the local
government council have also been relieved of their positions.

He noted that the action is sequel to the lack of commitment to the
Environmental and Sanitary programme of Ebonyi state government as
evident in the very poor environmental  and sanitary conditions of
Ohaozara local government headquarters.

The press release noted that  the council headquarter had been
overgrown by grasses, defaced by deep  refuse and offices including
that of the Chairman covered by Spider cobwebs and the local
government headquarters deserted by the staff.

Governor Umahi has therefore directed that no staff of Ohaozara would
be paid his or her salaries until the local government headquarters is
certified clean and looks habitable.

Accordingly, the governor approved the immediate appointment of
Hon. Mark Onu as the Acting Chairman of the local government and Mrs.
Chukwu Ajah as the Vice Chairman Caretaker Committee of Ohaozara local
government area.

When www.odogwublog.com team visited the council headquarters in the company of
the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Nweke yesterday, it was
discovered that most of the offices were covered by cob webs, dirty
and the premises overgrown with weed.

Out of the 125 staff of the council, 40 of them were met in the
council by 9.45 am, some of them cutting the grasses.

They were later addressed by the Principal Secretary.
