2 killed in new Artisan market Enugu, as market shut down

www.odogwublog.com reports that the Enugu state police command today confirmed that two people were killed at the new artisan market, which was previously ordered to be shut down by the state lawmakers’ aftermath of gruesome murder of a police officer on lawful duty, a fortnight ago.

Mr Amaraizu,[DSP]], the Enugu state police command public relations officer,PPRO, in a text message said the deceased[names not disclosed] had a serious clash and dealt several injuries on each other,which resulted to their death thereafter.

The police image maker said the state police command has commenced full investigation into the cause of the incident.

Odogwublog.com recalls that a police officer, Mr Gabriel Ugwu, was reported killed by yet to be arrested hoodlums  while he was on official duty to the new artisan market on Saturday, December 17,2016. Consequent upon the house of assembly committee on commerce and industry, ordered for the closure of the market, after their visit to the market.

The House committee said they discovered the market has been turned to a breeding ground for criminals as many stall owners converted their stalls as make shift residence for prostitutes who in turn harbour hoodlums in their tents.
